We are to wear our school spirit shirt on Friday's.  I always do, but lots of kids don't.

Barbara read Mimz' book Winter of the Wolf.  She enjoyed reading it and hopes I will keep on having Mimz or her read it to me.  Actually the author came to talk at Uncle Scott's school and Scott got his copy inscribed.

I think I did well on my spelling test.  

GGM made some sugar cookies and I ate a couple and took a few with me when Mimz came to pick me up.

Mimz took me to Dairy Queen to grab a bite before taking me to my baseball field practice.

It was a regular school day.  I played with Julian just a little, then I came inside to play Fortnight.   I didn't do my reading and only reviewed my spelling under duress.

Mimz took me to baseball practice.  She brought me a turkey and cheese sandwich and some chips which I enjoyed.  There were only six boys at practice.

I jammed my little finger at school and it is a little bruised, but I was still able to play baseball.

After practice I studied my spelling and did well when Mimz tested me.
Mimz has some friends who just returned from Gettysburg Pa.  We had a nice conversation about the Civil War and Gettysburg.  I got excited  talking about it.  Uncle Scott has a book called Winter of the Wolf by Clifton Wistler.  It takes place during the Civil War.  The father and two older boys must leave the family to fight in the war.  That leaves a 14-year-old boy to take care of he remaining seven family members.  He has a very hard year but he does a great job handling the responsibilities put upon him. 

Mimz started reading the book to me.  I enjoyed it and fell asleep after just a few pages had been read.

It was 33 degrees outside this morning and I still refuse to wear long pants or long sleeved shirt.  I did wear leggings and shorts and a jacket.  

My running club met this morning at 7:15am.  I wore a short sleeved shirt and leggings with shorts.  I took a jacket in my backpack but wouldn't wear it.  I was the only person, child or adult, who did not have on a jacket.  The outside temperature was 41 degrees. 

I brought my Float boat project home.  It did float.  It held 250 grams of weight before capsized and it was the only boat made of cork.  Some boats did not float.  Some boats were made of wood.

I played with Julian, mostly we shot baskets.

I studied my spelling words.  I played Fortnite.

I spent the morning and part of the afternoon at the Pond.    Mommy brought me home around 2pm.   I played Fortnite.

We are still at The Pond, doing the same things we did yesterday.  

Bradley has been sick since the day of Catherine's christening.  He has been to the emergency room and two doctor's appointments.  This morning Kristan thought he had gotten worse so she took him to the doctor and they sent him to the hospital.  They knew he had pneumonia and had given him medicine.  It wasn't working.  His chest x-ray shows one lung is full of gunk, so about 9pm they did a surgery to put a tube into his lung and let it drain.   He is feeling better and may be in the hospital a few days.

Today is Black Friday, a big discount shopping day.  Mommy and Grandma got up early to go stand in line to buy a few things.

I did the same things I done the past couple of days.  Play ball with whoever will play with me, play Fortnite, and did things with Papa.

Happy Thanksgiving!   Most kids are not as fortunate as I am so I really need to be thankful for the special life I have been given.

All of the Laplante family; except the Tennessee bunch and Uncle Tim, who lives in Tulsa; were at Papa and Grandma's home for Thanksgiving Day.  Barbara and Grandma drove up this morning and stayed for several hours.  Kristan drove Bradley up around noon.  Bradley wasn't feeling very good but he did start feeling a little better.  He wanted to walk around a little.   He has been to the emergency room and to his doctor.  They think it is just a bad virus that has turned into an ear infection and pneumonia.  Most of the time his mommy held him and he was kept away from Catherine. 

We ate our Thanksgiving dinner around 2:30pm.  I ate a little of everything, especially Papa's fried turkey.  We had the usual Thanksgiving fare. Grandma always has a meat pie call Touquere and she added a broccoli and rice casserole this year and some kind of custard pie.

I played a lot of ball outside with Chris, Andy, and Papa.  We had to play with the bat and balls Papa had since I didn't bring mine.   It's nice having a big yard to play in.  I played some Fortnite.

I helped Andy set up my old bouncy house...

...so Anna Kate could play in it.

She played and enjoyed it but she needed me to make it more fun.

I got in it for about ten minutes with AK.  I would jump and she would fall down.

Then I would fall down because I love to fall down.

Bradley would normally have been bouncing it it also but he wasn't up to it today.

Papa and I rode around in Massie and I got to drive at least half of the time.  I'm a good driver.  

At 5:30am Grandma had cataract surgery on her right eye and it was successful.   She had the other eye fixed a couple of weeks ago.  She has to put in lots of eye drops and wear dark sunglasses around the house.   She was sleepy and took a nap but she was doing just fine.

Barbara and I drove up to The Pond.  I helped Papa and we rode around in Massie, with me doing a lot of the driving.  Papa and I tried setting up my PlayStation in the guest house.  After an hour and talking with customer service we gave up and tried the TV in Grandma's craft room.  We plugged it in and it came right up.


Barbara and Grandma did a lot of cooking for our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow.  Mommy drove up to The Pond after she got off work.  Bridget and Chris and Catherine drove up as soon as Bridget got off work around 3pm.  Chris was off today to take care of Catherine because her day care nursery was closed today.   It took them 5 1/2 hours to get here because of rain and lots of traffic.

Andy and Anna Kate came up after Andy got off work.  Kristan stayed home with Bradley because he is sick but she hopes to come up for Thanksgiving Dinner tomorrow.

Barbara and GGM took care of Catherine while Anna Kate played with her.

We played a game called Wits and Wagers.  One of the questions was how much did the heaviest Sumo wrestler weigh.  I guessed 501 pounds.... and that answer was spot on!  Andy won, Papa was second, and I might have been third.   Barbara normally leaves early enough to be home before dark.  Since it gets dark so early, she decided to stay here tonight and get up early to drive home to shower and get GGM.

Today was pretty much the same as yesterday.  I did practice reviewing the states and their capitols that I know.   I was not a willing to help with chores.

There is no school this entire week and no body is around to play with.  I played a lot of Fortnite today.  Barbara sure doesn't like me playing video games as much as I want to. 

I was supposed to have two baseball games this morning.  The first game started at 9am.   I played second base.  One grounder came to me and I threw it to first base for an out.

I had one at bat.  I had one foul ball and a couple of balls and two strikes.  One of those I struck at and the other I thought was high and I didn't swing at it.  The ump called it a strike.   It started raining pretty heavily and the game was called.  I think we lost, 4 to 2.

I spent the day with my dad and came home around 6pm.  I brought my Play Station  back to my house and played Fortnite. 

Today was Catherine's christening.  

Mommy and Grandma and Papa drove to San Antonio this morning.  The christening was at 1pm. 

Andy was the Godfather and Alyssa  (Chris' sister) was the Godmother.  She was a well behaved baby during the ceremony.

  (need to to add framed picture instead of this one)Bridget and Chris like the framed picture Mommy and I gave to Catherine.  Grandma forgot to bring the little pink crocheted dress that Catherine's great great grandmother made for Barbara 58 years ago.  They will give it to her at our Thanksgiving dinner.

 Today we were to wear our school spirit shirt and crazy socks. 

Our Float Boat project was due today.

 I made mine out of corks and it was a raft. 

I printed my name on my boat's flag.  I added a seat.  I did all of the hot gluing. We forgot to test my boat to see if it would float.  We did test single corks and they foated so I am pretty sure it will float.

We didn't have time to test our boats at school to see if they would float, so we will do that after Thanksgiving.   I think I was the only child in my class to use cork for my boat. 

I had baseball field practice at the Farm league.  It was a really good practice and it was lots of fun.  There were only five boys there until two boys showed up when practice was half over.   Barbara took me and stayed with me until it was over.   Daddy was waiting in the parking lot for me. 

Today was wear Freckles to school today.   I didn't need to do anything for that.... I have freckles on my cheeks.  So did Matthew and his sister Victoria.  Julian doesn't have freckles so his mom put confetti freckles on his face.

I finished my floating boat project.   Hope it floats... it should it is made entirely of cork.

Today was Silly Hair Day.  We didn't have time to do much with my hair because I spent too much time arguing about not wearing long pants to school.   It was 30 degrees outside and with the wind chill if felt like 25 degrees.  In the end I wore leggings which don't help keep my legs very warm.

 

This morning my school wanted everyone to wear a tutu or a tie.   We didn't have any ties, so Mommy found a turkey tie for me to wear.  We didn't know how to tie a tie, so Barbara sewed it to one of my shirts.

We forgot to take a picture of me wearing it, but we did take a picture of it on the hanger.

I came home from school and played Fortnight.  Barbara can't wait for that game to be banned from our home.  Mommy agrees it is not a good thing.

Mommy and I worked on my floating boat project.  It is due on Friday and it is almost finished.

Today is the first day of Kindness Week.

I had these hats to chose from.  I quickly knew it was going to be the red one or the purple and gold one. 

I chose the red one.

I got up early this morning because I had 7:15am running club.  The outside temperature was 50 degrees and I refused to wear a jacket.  And I chose to wear leggings with shorts.

Today is 100 years since the end of WW11.   It is Veteran's Day and we all need to reflect on the importance of the people who join the Armed Forces and are willing to give their lives to protect us and our country.

I had two baseball games today.
Barbara and Daddy came to the first "game."  Actually is was hardly a "game."  There were no umpires.  The other team only had five players show up.  We gave them a couple of players to bat for their team and we gave them four players when they were in the field.  The other teams coach got mad at Coach Bryan and they argued for a minute.  Coach Jimmy calmed them both down and the game proceeded.

I didn't have any field action and only one at bat and I struck out.  Barbara didn't come back for the second game, but my mom did come.  And Daddy was there.
Daddy brought me home around 6pm.  I brought my PlayStation and that is all I wanted to do all evening.  After letting Mommy and me know that was a horrible horrible idea, Barbara stayed in her room with her door closed.

I spent the day with my dad.

Today at my school we had a Veteran's Day program starting at 9am.  The Veterans and their children or grandchildren walked the halls with all the students lining the walls.   All the students wore red, white, or blue; or red, white, and blue.  I was not a part of that part of the event.  I was in the cafeteria with all the third graders. We were waiting for the veterans to end the parade listening to us sing five great patriotic songs.

Papa and Barbara came to my event.  This was the first time Papa had been to this annual event.  He said it was very touching watching the veterans and their children or grandchildren make their way to seats in the cafeteria.   I wish Great Grandpa was still here, then I would have been able to march with him through the school hallways and we could have gone to the cake reception for the veterans.

I came home from school and didn't have time to talk about my evening plans because I wanted to go play.  In the end Barbara and I met Mimz at Sprouts about 5pm so Mimz could take me to my baseball practice in the cages because the fields are too wet.

I jumped out of Mimz' car with my in-line skates.  My school is having a skating event at SK8 Town starting at 6pm tonight.  I like wearing my own skates.   It costs $7 and up to half of that will go to my school's PE program.

We started our in PE class skating program.   We will have six PE classes of skating.  I like it.  Monday was the first day for some kids and one boy broke his leg skating that day!  Yikes! 

I played with Alyssa and Cole until it was time for me to come home to get ready for skating.   Mommy took Alyssa and me.  Cole went with another family.  One girl from my class was there also and I knew lots of kids that were there.  There was a race for 9 - 12 year old boys.  There were five of us.... AND I WON!   Yea, Mason!

I forgot to write.... I know I went to school.... and I came home.  I refused to eat anything but cereal, then I refused to eat cereal since Barbara would not let me use her phone.  I forgot that I can't use it the rest of this week because that is a consequence of previous bad behavior. I also said I was not going to baseball practice.

Well, a few minutes later I was over it and agreed to come home by 4:50 to eat and get ready for practice.  I didn't make it home as promised.  Barbara loaded my gear in her car and she came to get me.  We stopped to get me a cheeseburger.   Not good behavior on my part.

We met Mimz at Sprouts so she could take me to practice and then to her home for the night.  I had practice, dinner, shower and studied my spelling words before going to bed.

I woke up before 6:30am.  I was dressed and outside playing basketball about 20 minutes before the bus was to arrive.  It was suggested that I work on my spelling words.  I didn't want to.

I played outside until dark, which is around 5:40pm now.  I ate dinner, took my shower, then practiced my spelling words with Mommy before bedtime.

Monday, Nov 5, 2018
Mimz dropped me off at school at 7:15am so I could go to my running club.  I ran 9 laps.

I was disappointed that I had a baseball lesson with Jimmy.  I don't want to have any more, so Mommy canceled them.

I played outside with friends and then played inside with Alyssa and others, until 6pm.  It sure gets dark early. 

I read out loud to my mom.  I sure don't like reading, but I hope I start getting better at it.  That will help my grades.

I watched some of the Dallas football game until I fell asleep about 9:15pm.

It rained a bunch during the night, so both of my baseball games scheduled for today were called off for today.

I don't recall what I did today.

I forgot to write.  That makes another lost day in my memory book.

I always remember to wear my spirit shirt on Friday's.  Most of the kids on my bus forget.  And I don't forget to eat a second breakfast at school since they have really good tasting cinnamon rolls on Friday.

I brought home a paper about another project I am to do for school.  We have been studying about things that float in water and things that don't float.  I am to make a boat that floats.  We will test the boats in school to make sure they all float.

I played with my friends until it was time for baseball practice.  Daddy was working late, so Barbara went to my practice.  She took several videos of me catching, batting, running, and acting silly.  I enjoyed this practice.

After practice Daddy was waiting at the gate to the ball park so I could start my weekend with him.

Daddy brought me home around 6:45am so he could go to work.  I laid down on the sofa and quickly fell asleep.   I got up at 7am and had plenty of time to make the 7:25am bus.  At the bus stop, we were all talking about what a fun night we had Trick or Treating.

My school held its annual Character Parade at 9am this morning.  Barbara was the only one of my family who was able to come.  She took videos, to share with my family. 

I wore my baseball uniform and carried one of the four baseball books that were Andy's when he was a boy.

I keep telling my family that my behavior at school has improved and I have not gotten in trouble and haven't been yelled at.

As soon as I got off the bus, I called my dad to see if I could go Trick or Treating with Cole's mom, Cole, Alyssa, and two of Cole's friends; first in Cole's neighborhood, then in my neighborhood.  He said I could.

I quickly changed out of my baseball uniform and into my football uniform.   We started Trick or Treating almost as soon as we got there. We were hoping to hit a bunch of houses before it started raining.  Well, it would rain, then stop, then rain, then stop.  We didn't stop when it started raining... and sometimes it as pretty heavy rain... we just kept on enjoying the fun.  Actually the rain, probably made it even more exciting.

We all agreed we got more candy than we ever had before.  Probably people didn't expect many kids to be out because of the rain, and they wanted to get rid of the candy,  so they gave us more than they normally would have.

I came home around 8 or soon after, took off my soaking wet football uniform, toweled off, and put on dry clothes.  I called my dad and he came to get me so I could spend some time with him.

Anna Kate was a fairy at her tap class Halloween party.

 Bradley was a lumberjack with a beard.... how cute!

It rained and they were all wet but Andy's family had a great time walking around their neighborhood.

After school I had baseball practice at Prime 9.  I do enjoy these practices.  I probably goof off too much and should really try to improve more.
