*****I'm more behind than I have ever been on blog pictures.  I have a few hundred pictures to purge, organize, name, and decide which ones to put on this blog.  I am going to do something I've not done before.  I'm going to start with today and TRY to add new pictures daily and at the same time work on the rest of my October pictures and add them when I can.  Hopefully it will all happen in a reasonable amount of time.******

I woke up ready for a fun day ending with Trick or Treating and watching the Astro's play in the World Series.

While my oatmeal cooled, I wrote my spelling words.  After eating, and brushing my teeth (I have a toothbrush and toothpaste downstairs) I was out the door to wait for the bus.

I completed my homework yesterday, so I turned it in today.  It is due on Friday.

I was surprised to see Mimz waiting for me.  She came to give me three gifts: a Houston's Astro's shirt and another shirt.  I was disappointed that it didn't have Springer's name on it and I was not appreciative, so Mimz decided it might be best for her to take them back to her home.  Maybe I will learn a bad attitude will get me nowhere fast.
Mimz brought a box with beautifully decorated Halloween cookies.  I took two to Anthony and Alyssa and two to Julian and Xavier.  There was one for GGM, Barbara, Mommy, and Mimz and that left four for me!  (We forgot to take a picture of the entire box.)

I wrote my spelling words for Mimz so she could see that I had been practicing.

I was so ready to go trick or treating.  It was raining but I didn't care, I was ready no matter what.
Finally it was time to get dressed.  I went as Michael Myers.
I'm cute without the mask!  I went Trick or Treating with Anthony, Alyssa, Cole, Cole's mom, and Mommy.  We got a lot of candy in the 30 minutes or so that we were out there in the rain.

I striped off my clothes in the garage.  Mommy hung them up on the line in the garage to let them dry.   I went inside to eat.  I wanted scrambled eggs with hot sauce so that is what Barbara fixed me.  I ate while watching the start of the World series game.

We went upstairs and it was not long before I was asleep.  I missed the first score which was a home run by Springer.
Anna Kate and Bradley went Trick or Treating as Beauty and the Beast.
Papa and Grandma's neighborhood planned to have an outside event, but they moved it inside because of the heavy rain.
Mommy made little treats for her co-workers: a witches cauldron with candy corn in it.
She also decorated a pumpkin for a contest at work.

Mommy and I were thrilled to hear that the Astro's won last night.  I missed the last 3 1/2 innings last night.    Now if we can just win one of the next two games, preferably the first one.

It was 40 degrees outside but I insisted on wearing shorts.  Barbara disagreed but she is tired of arguing with me about a lot of things, so I wore shorts.  And so did Cole!... so there!

I was hungry when I got off the bus, so I came inside, sat at the table, ate, and did all of my weekly homework and practiced my spelling words.  Oh, if only I wanted to do this every day.  The rest of the week, I need to read every day.

Sunday, October 29, 2017

Papa fixed eggs (with hot sauce) and biscuits for Mommy and me.  Then we left to come home so I could get dressed for baseball and make it to the field by 10am.
My games were at 11am and 3pm.  It was 40 some degrees when we arrived and it stayed cool-ish all day and there was a breeze all day.  I know we lost the first game by a lot and the second game by a little.  I played third base the entire time both games, except for a short time while I sat out.
Before the game I was contemplating how I was going to play.
I had a couple of good hits that were both foul balls.  I stuck out.  I keep telling myself that even the best baseball players strike out so forget it and look forward to the next play.
Here I am in a huddle with all three coaches.  They were giving me pointers on batting.  They know I can hit.  I just have to start swinging my bat a lot more.
Enjoying time with my teammates.
Here I am listening to my coaches after the game talk.

I skipped Faith Formation so I could play in the second baseball game.

I played baseball and football in my front yard with Xavier and Julian until it was almost dark.  I watched some of the Astro's game in my mom's room before I fell asleep before 9pm.

Saturday, October 28, 2017

I had a good time spending the evening with Julian and Xavier's family.  We watched the Astro's win!   We went to bed at midnight.  I hope for two more wins for us the next two World Series games.

I had eggs for breakfast and I came home at 10:15am.  Austin came down asking if I could play.  I showed him my scary mask and we laughed and played with it for several minutes before we heading outside to play some football.

I came home at 12:30pm and found I had all of my football uniform except my arm bands.  I was upset and Barbara told me it was my responsibility to take care of my baseball and football gear.  As it turns out it I took them off at Mimz and that's where they were.   I was concerned that I couldn't play because my arm was red and sore where I got my flu shot.

Guess what, I could play football with a sore arm.  Actually I probably forgot about it hurting.  My fans were: Papa, Grandma, Barbara, Mommy, Mimz and Daddy.  I played a great game!  I might have scored three times, or maybe it was only twice.  I intercepted a ball and then scored.
Picture of two of my football buddies who are also on my baseball team.
We had our normal quick meeting after the game and before we get our snack.

Grandma and Papa had a souvenir shirt for me from their Grand Canyon vacation.  They went to Rozwell New Mexico and bought an alien shirt for me, Anna Kate, and Bradley.

I was dressed for my cub scout pack Halloween party, but at the last minute we decided to skip it and we drove up to the lake to watch the OU football game AND the Astro's World Series game.  OU won.... the Astro's didn't.  World Series is tied at two games each.

Friday, October 27, 2017

I woke up easily and dressed in my baseball uniform for my school's character parade.  I carried one of Andy's novels about baseball.

Barbara came to my parade and she saw Alyssa and Julian and she took short videos of them for their parents.  She didn't see me.  I was in front of and near Alyssa.  Well, at least we took pictures of me at home before I left for school.

I had early dismissal at 2:30pm because I had my 8-year-old well-baby checkup with Dr. Muehe at 3:45pm.  Mimz met us there.  We had barely sat down when they called my name.  Barbara didn't get to take our traditional picture of me sitting on top of one of the waiting room chairs.

I explained to the doctor that I had on my baseball uniform because this morning we had a character parade.  We talked about the World Series and Dr. Muehe said he was an Altuve fan.  I turned around and showed him my number 27 on the back of my shirt.
Dr. Muehe said I was a very healthy boy, my weight and height are very proportional.  I am 51.5 inches tall (66 percentile),
...weigh 59 pounds (61 percentile) and my BMI was 51 percent which is excellent.  My blood pressure was 108/71 which is great.  My temperature was 99.1 degrees.
We had to wait awhile before the doctor came in, so I relaxed with Mimz' phone on the exam table.
My wheezing is my only symptom and it's not bad.  Dr Muehe explained a lot about allergies and asthma.  I have not been diagnosed with asthma.  We are getting a second inhaler so we can have one at my home and one at Mimz home.

We found out that I should still be in a booster chair in the car.  Barbara said she would put hers back in the car... and she did.

I had a flu shot and it barely hurt... now later it did make my arm sore.

I asked Barbara to drop me off at Austin's home as we drove by.  There were five boys playing in his front yard.  I was a happy boy.

I ate dinner with Julian and Xavier's family.  I had fish taco's for the first time and I cleaned my plate.  I spent the evening watching the Astro's win game three of the World Series with their family and I spent the night with them.   Mrs. Maribel sent a text to my mom and Barbara saying I was very respectful and I was using my manners.  She also said her husband said I had been the best boy they had had there playing with their sons.

Oct 25, 2017
Today was moustache day.  Mommy and I looked on-line and found all kinds of moustaches, but we decided a simple one would look best.

Everyone in my class including my teachers wore a moustache.  What fun!

Oct 26, 2017
Today was CRAZY hair day at school.  Mimz helped me spike my hair.  I wish I had thought to dye my hair.  Many of my classmates had dyed hair.  It was a fun activity.

Mimz got me to school early for my Running Club.  I have now ran a total of 19 laps.

We found out that my report card was ready for me.... On-line!  Mommy got it:
It says I had 2 sick days with doctor's notes and no tardies.
When we got off the bus, we boys "piled on."

My den leader was not going to be at the meeting tonight, so we decided I would go to baseball practice.  Barbara took me to Prime 9 at 5:30pm.  She stayed until Mommy arrived a few minutes later.  I had a good practice.  Someone stepped on my shin with his cleats.  It hurt but I am tough.

We can't find my eye black, so Mommy bought me a tube of pink/red eye black.  I'll wear it tomorrow with my baseball uniform for my school's character parade.

It was 8:15pm before we got home.  I quickly got ready for bed and wrote my spelling words three times on my dry erase board.  I was asleep by 9pm.

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

We all wore camo to school today.  I don't have a camo shirt, but I do have camo shorts.

I didn't bring home a report card again today.  I told Barbara some kids in my class have gotten their report cards but some of us still haven't.  I also said I was not being bad, I really didn't have my report card yet.

I did my reading homework before going off to play at Austin's home.  I had to be back home at 5:15pm so Barbara could take me to French elementary school where I practiced with two coaches and four other boys.  Mommy got there about one minute before we did at 5:30pm.  We got home at 6:45pm.  I ate dinner, then started watching the first game of the World Series.

Tomorrow is the day we are all to come to school with a drawn moustache on my face.  Mommy and I looked at some on-line.  I drew a moustache on Barbara and we liked it, so we decided on a very simple one for me to wear tomorrow.

I didn't want to, but I did go take a shower (wearing my watch) and brushed my teeth before getting in Mommy's bed to watch more of the Astro's vs. LA Dodgers.   Barbara asked if I wanted her to wake me up at 6:30am so I could watch the highlights of the game if there were any.  I said no.  I know my plan was to stay up to watch the entire game but I didn't make it.  It was 3 to 1 when I fell asleep and that was also the final score.  We lost but we still have several more games to play.

Monday, Oct 23, 2017

Today I wore a red shirt to school to say "We're "red-y" to say NO to drugs and alcohol.  It is National wear red day.

I like Mondays at school.  We have two special gym classes on Monday.
Nothing interesting happened at school today.  Oh, we did have our honor program.  Only PTO workers were invited.  I got a GREAT CONDUCT spirit stick.  I haven't gotten my report card yet... some kids got theirs last week.  Some of them have not come in yet.

I came home and did my math homework and read my reading homework and practiced my spelling words while eating a snack.   I could not wait to run off to play football at Austin's home.

Mommy came to get me just before 7pm, when it was getting dark.  We had a discussion about my wanting to wear my watch while taking a shower.  Barbara said no, I said yes because my watch was waterproof.  We called Mimz to find out.  She wasn't sure, but said it might say water resistant on it.  We checked and it did say water resistant, so I wore in while taking a shower.  Then I took it off to let the band dry.  Barbara thinks I should take if off before taking a shower so it will stay nice and might work longer.

I watched a little Monday night football while watching baseball on U-tube.  I was asleep by 8:40pm.

Sunday, October 22, 2017

Oh what a glorious day!  The Astros are going to the World Series!

I played at Daddy's until time to go home before going to Faith Formation.

Mimz drove me home.  We decided to stop at Dairy Queen and get a ice cream cone.  They are delish!

Barbara and GGM drove me to Faith Formation before going to the grocery store.  A man pulled up beside the car and told them the rear left tire was low.  They stopped at a gas station and added air.  Barbara will go see if she has a slow leak that needs to be patched or something.  Mommy came up for the last 30 minutes of class while we were learning prayers for the rosary.

Mommy dropped me off at Austin's home.  He could only play for a few minutes.  I was jogging home, when a car was going my direction.  I sped up and was trying to keep up with her.  She rolled down her window and said, "Good running!"  That made me happy.

Julian and Xavier wanted to play.  We ended up having five boys in the front yard playing football.  We were just making up the rules, when Barbara came out and said no tackling.  Bummer!

We had pizza for dinner.  I could have had chicken and noodles, but I chose pizza.

football practice and game

7th game between the Astro's and the Yankees.

Friday, October 20, 2017

I went off to school happily wearing my Metzler school spirit shirt.
I turned in 30 plus Box Tops to buy school supplies.  One boy in my class turned in 68!  The class that turns in the most box tops wins a popcorn party.  I hope we win!

Our special class on Friday is Art.  I like my art class.

Mimz was waiting for me at my home when I jumped off the bus.  I told her and Barbara that this evening is Metzler's school Halloween party.  So it was decided that I would stay at home, go to the school event, and then go to Daddy's home for the weekend.

I played at Austin's until 5:30pm.  Then Barbara took me to the school party.
We got there at 5:45p and we were lucky to find a parking place.  I took my football since playing football was my main point in going.
The first thing we did was get my face painted.   I chose a bat.
We didn't get a picture of it completed.  Then I was through with the Halloween booths.
The only thing I wanted to do was play football.  I played with a group of  boys.
The smallest number of boys was 4 and our group got as big as 12 at one time.  I played the entire time.
I was wet and dirty, and my bat face was messed up. It sprinkled rain for about half of the event.  I had a lot of fun.  We left the party at 7:30pm and met Daddy at Sprouts.

The Astro's won game number 6, tonight they play the Yankees again.  If we win, we will go to the World Series!  Fingers crossed.

Oct 18, 2017
I forgot to write on my blog today.
Mimz has a little headlamp that I can wear to read before sleep.

Oct 19, 2017
Mimz took me to running club at 7:15am.  I ran 10 laps.
In gym class we ran a mile today.  I got the fastest boy (in my class).  In September my time was 8:27 seconds.  Today it was 7:24 seconds.  Almost a full minute faster!
I had 30 something Box Tops to turn in.  One boy in my class had 68!
As usual I jumped off the bus ready to play football at Austin's.  First I had to come in and review my homework.  I already had it done, but we did do one of my math problems, and I read City Mouse, Country Mouse.   I also took a spelling test.  I got them all right.  (I did the same test in the car driving to baseball practice, again I got them all right.)   Then the doorbell rang.  It was Austin....off I went.

I was going to my Cub Scout meeting tonight, first one for me to go to this year.  But my parents changed the plan and I went to my third baseball practice for the week.  I am way behind on working on patches and belt loops.

I played baseball at Austin's until time for me to come home and get dressed for baseball.  I threw a fit because I didn't like the pants, socks, water-in-water bottle, wrong hat, and possibly some other things Barbara had laid out for me.   She said there won't be a problem with her not pleasing me in the future....I now have to take care of getting together my own gear, clothes, water bottle, etc.  It is not an easy task, but I'm eight-years-old, I should be able to handle that task.

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

Daddy brought me home in plenty of time for me to catch the bus.  This was the first morning we needed to be wearing jackets.

Our special class today was Music.  That is always a fun class.

I jumped off the bus ready to play.  Barbara told me I had an extra baseball practice at 5pm, so I could play for 30 minutes if I would come straight home from practice, shower, and read, and do homework or spelling.  I agreed.
I've been interested in learning to write in cursive.  I have been practicing writing my name.
Barbara took me to the practice up near Woodlands Parkway.  One coach worked with me on catching fly balls, then we worked on pitching.  Then we all started playing together.  Mommy arrived at 5:30 and Barbara went home.

When I came home I was hungry so I had a bowl of cereal.  I took a shower and practiced my spelling words.

I had 20 minutes to watch some baseball on my iPad, then it was lights out at 8:30pm.

reserved Monday

Today was another School Holiday!  I like school, but I LOVE holidays!
I spend the night at my dad's home.

baseball batting lesson with Gabe

I fell and scraped my knee.  It is amazing that I have had so few injuries with all the rough play I do.

Daddy brought me home at 4:15pm.  I ate some spaghetti and some cereal before laying down on the sofa to watch a baseball game.... I promptly fell asleep.

Barbara woke me up at 4:50pm.  I walked to her car, put on my seat belt, and laid my head down.  I was asleep before we were out of the garage.  Mommy met us at my church at 5:30pm.   Barbara went home, and Mommy and I went to something _____ .  It lasted until 7:15pm.  Mommy drove me to Sprouts were we met my dad.  He took me to his home, where we watched the Astro's play the Yankees.  The Astro's lost this game.  That makes the series be 2 to 1 in the Astro's favor.

Sunday, October 15, 2017

I didn't watch any television yesterday, so this morning I started watching the Astro's vs Yankee's game.  I didn't finish before I ran off to play.
I covered this little cauldron with rhinestones.  It was my idea to add the little flower.  I gave it to Austin's teen-aged sister.  She liked it and thought I was very sweet to give her a gift.

Saturday, October 14, 2017

I spent the night at my dad's home.
Mommy came to get me before my football practice and game which were at 1:30 and 2:30pm.  Barbara came to the last half of my game.  I played the entire game, but didn't get to touch the ball much.  I did play center for a couple of plays and I did get to carry the ball a couple of times, but I didn't get very far.  I did do one great thing.  I made an interception!  Yea, Mason!

I spent the rest of the afternoon playing at Austin's with a bunch of boys.  Mostly we played football.

At home I worked on a carft project.

I had Barbara show me how to write my name is cursive.  She also wrote some words in cursive and I could read them: toy, dog, two.  It's not so hard.  I just get upset when I don't write perfectly!

NO SCHOOL TODAY!!!

I slept until 7:30am.  Normally I would have been outside

Splinter,  hurt, needle and twizzers, soaked, peroxide,

Daddy came to get me at 9:30am.

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Mimz and I stopped at the doughnut shop for breakfast on our way to my running club which starts at 7:15am.
Today was our field trip to Oil Ranch.

I brought home a small pumpkin that GGM put on the center of our breakfast table.
Me at baseball practice.

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

I turned on my homework today because I had it finished.  It is not due until Friday.

Fabian bloody nose, bad bloody nose.  Nurse came quickly and took him to her office.  I asked Mrs. Havemann if I should take his backpack to him.  She said yes At the nurses office I could hear Fabian in the bathroom crying.  I hope he is okay.

I did my reading as soon as I got home.  I read Fly Guy presents Sharks.  I learned a lot of facts about sharks.  A couple new words that I learned were gills and cartilage.

I played football in my front yard for a long time with four other boys.  Then three of them left, so I went down to Austins to play.  Mimz picked me up and took me to my baseball batting practice which was at the place behind Neil's restaurant.

We all worked on pitching.  There were four coaches working with all the boys.  We have four pitching lanes so we all got in a lot of pitching.  I worked with the real pitching coach.  He told coach Brian that I throw a lot of strikes...now I need to work on the mechanics of pitching so I can throw harder.

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Happy 93rd birthday, to my Great Grandfather.  I miss not having him watch me play outside with my friends.

Barbara took GGM to an early early doctor's appointment, so she missed seeing me off to school.  (first time this year.)  Mommy was there to watch me get on my bus.  She left for work as soon as my bus drove off to school.

My reading homework was a couple of paragraphs about castles.  I learned what a drawbridge and a moat were and how they helped protect the castle.  I learned that castles were made of stone and often were built on a hill.   I don't have my spelling words yet for this week so I can't study for that.

I read another Fly Guy book.  Funny how most of the books have exactly 30 pages in them.  They are so silly, they are funny.

I played football at Austin's.  There is generally at least four or five kids playing in his front yard.
Sunset is 7pm, so I have to come home at that time.

Monday, October 9, 2017

Mommy had surgery a second time on her wrist because the cyst she had came back.  GGM was going to get me on the bus, but Barbara  was back home from taking Mommy to the hospital, before it was time for me to wake up.

I happily got on the bus and I planned to have a very good day.

Surgery was uneventful. On the drive home, Mommy stopped at my school to look in the Lost and Found for my Cub Scout slider that Barbara made for me using the kit my den leader gave me at the end of last year.  I lost it playing on the play ground after our den meeting.  It was not there.  Bummer!  Barbara spent a few hours sewing that for me and she had sore fingers pulling a large needle through small holes.  She did use needle-nose pliers to help her but she still had to use her fingers some.

Mommy met my bus!  That made me so very happy! First time she has been home when school let out.  This was also the first time Barbara was not there to meet my bus.

I did my reading homework and read two Fly Guy books before running off to play.
From her upstairs bedroom, Barbara snapped this photo of the gang of five running off to Austins.

I had to come home at 7pm, when it was almost dark outside. I did my bedtime routine and watching baseball on the iPhone before going to sleep around 9pm.

Sunday    Oct 8, 2017
I had to get up early and dress for my baseball games.  I was ready with time to spare.

I had to be at the ball field at 8am because I had a 9am game.  My fans were Papa, Grandma, Mommy, Mimz, and Daddy.  Barbara had to stay home so cub scouts could come pick up popcorn.

I got on base both times I was at bat.  I walked once, and on the other time, on my third strike, the catcher dropped the ball, so I ran to first... then they made an error and the ball went over the first baseman's head.  I ran all the way to third base.  I played third base.

Mommy brought fruit to my game as a part of the lunch we would have between my baseball games.
My second game, I got to do some pitching.  I walked some boys.  I struck out a couple.  That was fun.  My second game was to start at 1pm but it was really late getting started.
Saying a prayer as a team.

Close up of me after the games.

After I got home I played football at Austins, until almost dark.  It's almost impossible to get me in bed on time.  I have so many stalling tactics.  But I was asleep by 9pm, only thirty minutes late.

Saturday, October 7, 2017

I spent the night at my Dad's home.
My football practice was at 1:30pm and my game was at 2:30pm.  My dad substituted for a coach.  It was fun having him on the field.  My fans were Mommy, Barbara, and Mimz.  It was 90 degrees during the game.  We are in Texas so I guess that is expected.  I think we won.  I played great.

Mommy bought some fruit to take to my game.  Parents take turns bringing good things for us to eat.
During our team meeting, I was given a medal for my great playing last week.

I went home with my dad so we could watch Texas play football this evening.  Mommy came to get me before the game was over.

I didn't get to sleep until after 10pm.  Barbara wants be asleep at 8:30pm.  She knows I need the rest but I won't listen to her.

Friday, October 6, 2017

My Metzler shirt was at my Dad's and I didn't want to wear any of the old Metzler shirts so I just wore a regular shirt.

We reviewed my spelling words while I got dressed for school.  The word that gave me problems yesterday was "their."  This morning it was "where."  I should know them all if I I think about each word.

On Friday I like to get a cinnamon roll at school.

We had a substitute teacher.  We talked about rural, urban, and suburban.

I think I made a 100 on my spelling test.

I played with Austin and the other guys until it was time for my baseball hitting lesson.  I went home with my dad and I spent the night at his house.

Thursday, October 5, 2017

The tooth fairy came to see me last night!  Lucky me!

I had to wake up a little earlier than normal this morning because my running club meets for the first time at my school's track at 7:15am.  Mimz and I stopped for kalachies but no doughnuts since I would be running laps around the track soon.

While driving home I noticed the moon was big and fiery looking and pretty.  I told Mimz to look at it.  As it turns out it was a rare October Harvest Moon.

I jumped off the bus and wanted to go play with Austin, Julian and Xavier.  I had to eat a snack and do homework first.  I did my reading page homework and read a Fly Guy book.  I read my spelling words.  We will test me on the drive to baseball practice and I'll read another Fly Guy book.   And so off I went to play at Austin's home.  We generally play football in his front yard.
My baseball practice was at a different place this evening.  It was fun and I mostly did a pretty good job.  We all goofed off a couple of times.  One time we were so bad, Coach had us all run a lap around the entire baseball field.    I mostly played third base.

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

I woke up easily.  I asked Barbara to pick out three shirts for me and I would chose one of them to wear.  She did and I decided to wear my Urban Air shirt instead.  I got dressed, brushed my hair, and while I ate breakfast I looked at the Fly Guys books I will read after school.   I tossed a football up in the air while I waited for my friends and the bus.  Barbara and I started discussing states and their capitals.  We decided if I review the ones I know and add a new one every few days, but the time we study them in school, I will already know them.  Alyssa came out and we looked at our reading list.  I had more books listed but I am sure my books have less pages in them.  Alyssa is a very good reader.

I jumped off the bus wanting to play.  I keep forgetting I must read for 20 minutes before doing anything else.  I read two more Fly Guy books.  They only have about thirty pages in them.

Mimz arrived while I was eating a snack: chicken nuggets and apple slices.  We looked through my weeks worth of classroom work.  I had one spelling test with a 70 on it and a couple of grades in the 80s and the rest were 90s or 100s.  I need to remember practice my spelling words every day.

I dressed in my practice uniform and Mimz drove me to my batting practice.  I had a good practice.

At Mimz' home, I did my make-up homework for Faith Formation and my first lesson for First Reconciliation.  I had to read a passage from my Catholic Children's Bible and answer some questions.  I was interested in it.

Remember I said Mommy bought my bible and then the church gave us one?  We were going to try to return the one we bought, but as it turns out Mimz wanted one, so she bought the one the church gave to us.

I was in bed with a stuffed up nose caused by allergies, I'm sure.  In just a few minutes I got up and went to the bathroom to try to pull out one of my teeth.  I had two loose baby teeth.  I was successful at pulling it out.  I got back in bed with the tooth under my pillow, hoping the Tooth Fairy comes during the night!    Mimz read me another book to help me fall asleep.

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

My dad woke me up and took me to the doughnut shop.  We got to my home in time for us to play catch for a few minutes before my bus came.  I asked Barbara to save my doughnuts and chocolate milk for my after school snack.   She will.

Mommy had a meeting with my two teachers at 7:25pm.  They both said I was a sweet boy and act just like a boys my age act.   I'm reading on a second grade level.  They suggested finding a series I find interesting like Fly Guy and then hopefully I will want to keep reading more than the required 20 minutes.   My teachers are going to send my mom the names of some series I might find interesting.

My teachers told my mom about the Five Finger Rule:
Here is the basic idea.  There are many variations.

  1. Select a book
  2. Open it book in the middle and find a page that isn’t the first page or the first page of a chapter.  It is helpful if the page also does not have pictures.
  3. Read the page.
  4. For every word that you have trouble reading put a finger up.
0-1 fingers – the book is too easy
2-3 fingers – the book is “just right”
4-5 fingers – the books is too hard

They said at the beginning of school I was put in a group and the group quickly bonded and started visiting too much.  The other groups did the same.  They changed up the groups and now I am not having a problem staying on task.  They said I will come ask for directions if I didn't understand.  After the teacher tells me what I am to be doing, I have to repeat it back to them and then I will be very successful doing my work.

I want to be the first to finish and turn in my work.  I need to slow down and recheck my work.  Sometimes I skip a question in my quest to finish first and I really know the answer.

They told my mom about a time I shined.  We were all engineers.   My partner was a quiet girl.  We were given four large marshmallows and 20 small marshmallows and some uncooked spaghetti.  Our project was build something.   We built the most successful thing.  Some of the projects fell over.  We started with a square base and built up to a pyramid on the top.  My partner and I got to explain what we did to the class.   I was the obvious leader of the group.

I hopped off the bus wanting to eat and then play.  I forgot I have to read for 20 minutes before I can play.  I ate my leftover doughnut and kalachie and I read two Fly Guy books.  They are a good level for me to read.  I know most of the words and the ones I don't know are repeated again in the book to reinforce my learning the words.  The books I brought home from the library are a little bit too hard but I do try to read them.

Julian and Xaiver are grounded for two days, so I went down to Austin's to play.

First thing I said was "I wish I could use your phone.  I'm sorry."   Barbara said she wishes I could us it also.  I can use it next Sunday evening.

I spent 15 minutes looking for my Pokemon binder.  We didn't find it.  I am sure I brought it home from my friend's house.

Barbara babysat Anna Kate and Bradley last night and she spent the night at their home.  She came home at 7:30am and found my mom and me asleep in her bed.  She doesn't like that, but she has the nicest bed in the world so we can't help it.

People came to get popcorn to sell, then Mommy had a Cub scout leaders and parents meeting so I read a couple of articles in my Boy's Life magazine before knocking on my friends doors and the only person who answered the door was Austin.  When I came home I was glad to find that lunch was ready: spaghetti.  It's yummy!

Barbara played catch with me because it was shady and not too hot.  I can really hit those whiffle balls.  I was trying to use the techniques that coach showed me to make my batting better.

Barbara took me to Faith Formation and Mommy picked me up.  We had planned to go to Toys R Us and use a gift card I got for my birthday.  I got some Pokemon cards and a two person laser gun set.  It is a gun you use in the dark and it lights up and lets you know when you kit the target.  It is not a real laser beam.

It was a good day until close to bed time (8:30pm).  I wanted to work on a craft that is too hard for me to do.  Mom told me she has ordered one for me that is harder than I have done recently but easier than the one I wanted to do.  I threw a fit and tore up a mask my mom had made for me.  I refused to go to bed.  In general I was being a total brat.  Barbara told me I would get a consequence of no iPhone or iPad for a week if I was not in bed in 60 seconds.  I had amble time to get there, but I stood my ground and said "make it five weeks!"  Well.... I have one week of no iPhone or iPad and I am terrible embarrassed about the whole thing.   I was asleep by 9pm.  Barbara is the person who set the consequence to be one week.  Mommy would make it shorter, but Barbara thinks it needs to make a big impression.  It was just a couple of weeks ago that I had this same consequence and I guess it didn't make much of an impression.   But I do know I didn't like not having those electronics.  Maybe I will learn.

Actually Barbara thinks I spend too much time watching videos on the iPhone or iPad and that some of the things are not terrible but are not really for kids.  She thinks someone should be with me to monitor my video watching.  Hopefully I will read more this week.

I've got to start working on my "homework" for my first communion which is several months away.  There are several lessons I have to work on.

Papa and Grandam met up with Lisa and Danny and watched Elizabeth play volleyball in Arizona.  They were at the Grand Canyon yesterday and the Petrified Forest today.  They are now ready to start heading back home.  They think they might get home on Tuesday evening.
