Mommy had a meeting with my two teachers at 7:25pm. They both said I was a sweet boy and act just like a boys my age act. I'm reading on a second grade level. They suggested finding a series I find interesting like Fly Guy and then hopefully I will want to keep reading more than the required 20 minutes. My teachers are going to send my mom the names of some series I might find interesting.
My teachers told my mom about the Five Finger Rule:
Here is the basic idea. There are many variations.
- Select a book
- Open it book in the middle and find a page that isn’t the first page or the first page of a chapter. It is helpful if the page also does not have pictures.
- Read the page.
- For every word that you have trouble reading put a finger up.
2-3 fingers – the book is “just right”
4-5 fingers – the books is too hard
They said at the beginning of school I was put in a group and the group quickly bonded and started visiting too much. The other groups did the same. They changed up the groups and now I am not having a problem staying on task. They said I will come ask for directions if I didn't understand. After the teacher tells me what I am to be doing, I have to repeat it back to them and then I will be very successful doing my work.
I want to be the first to finish and turn in my work. I need to slow down and recheck my work. Sometimes I skip a question in my quest to finish first and I really know the answer.
They told my mom about a time I shined. We were all engineers. My partner was a quiet girl. We were given four large marshmallows and 20 small marshmallows and some uncooked spaghetti. Our project was build something. We built the most successful thing. Some of the projects fell over. We started with a square base and built up to a pyramid on the top. My partner and I got to explain what we did to the class. I was the obvious leader of the group.
I hopped off the bus wanting to eat and then play. I forgot I have to read for 20 minutes before I can play. I ate my leftover doughnut and kalachie and I read two Fly Guy books. They are a good level for me to read. I know most of the words and the ones I don't know are repeated again in the book to reinforce my learning the words. The books I brought home from the library are a little bit too hard but I do try to read them.
Julian and Xaiver are grounded for two days, so I went down to Austin's to play.
