 June 1, 2017
Today was the last day of school.
We went to school empty handed and with no backpacks.

I jumped off the bus with a blue folder which held my report card in my hand.
I did great in first grade.  I had perfect attendance for the entire year.  I was tardy four times, but we are going to work on that.  My conduct grades were S E E E for the year.  Pretty great for an active little boy.  I am now a second grader.
Then we had to act silly....
...and sillier.
My report card.... Way to go!

Today was the first day of my summer vacation between first and second grade.  It was a very good day.

I was awake at 6:30am because my swim practice is from 7am to 7:45am.  I ate grits and put on my jammers.  Mommy took me to practice.  The water was perfect, not too cold and not too hot.  The coaches comments about my good diving.
This is my official swim team individual picture.
In the team picture I am on the second row from the bottom, fourth child from the left.

After Mommy went to work, I went into Barbara's room where she was busy pulling boxes out of her closet.  They were boxes of children's books that had been Grandmas's, Mommy's, Andy's, and Bridget's.  We were mainly looking for the Boxcar Children's series.  We found many books from the series but not all of them.  The first book in the series was to my mom from GGM and GGF.  I started reading it by myself.  I quit on page 10 to run off to play with my friends.

Around noon, Barbara came to get me from Anthony's house so I could help fix lunch and eat.  I learned how to fry an egg and make a fried egg sandwich.  The thing I had to remember was to not touch the hot skillet.  I cracked the egg, salted and peppered it and helped turn it over to cook the second side.  I helped put sandwich spread on the bread.   I used a spatula to move the egg from the skillet to the bread.  Then I enjoyed my sandwich and milk.

Grandma arrived around 12:30pm.  We were going to visit a couple of nursing homes.  Actually they are memory centers.  The first one was very luxurious and had 43 residents.  The second one was older and more homey with only 16 patients.  We decided to go with the second one for GGF.  He needs more care than GGM and Barbara can give him.  They are both pretty old themselves.

While we were at the first memory center, I read more pages of Boxcar Children.  I read for at least 20 minutes.  I am working on a Sumer Reader's Challenge and one of the challenges is to read while waiting somewhere... I was waiting while Grandma and Barbara talked to the lady at the nursing home.  Check off one of my 11 challenges.

Back home I dressed in my jammers and went to the neighborhood pool with Alyssa, Cole, and his mom.  Then we went to Bahama Bucks.  I got my favorite Coconut drink.

Mommy got home and we went to get something for Bridget's batchlette party.

I read to page 20 in Boxcar Children before falling asleep at 9:15pm.  Barbara is reading my book also, when I'm not reading it.  And GGM read it in one sitting.
