Mommy was asleep when I woke up and made my way downstairs to find everyone eating breakfast.
That was Grandma, Barbara, and their two Bates' cousins Mary Frances Howard and her sister Madge Lee Hauenstein, both from Pryor, Oklahoma. When they finished eating they all climbed into Grandma's car to drive to Tomball so the cousins could see Barbara's home (for the first time ever) and to bring GGM and GGF back to the lake so they could all visit until 3:30p when the cousins were driving to Dallas so they could visit with one of the Bates' aunts. They talked about their families and all the Bates and really enjoy the visit.
Mommy and I striped the sheets off the beds, and started the washing machine.
Mommy and I had another mission to attend to. It seems that yesterday Mommy picked up a prescription. The pharmacy stapled Mommy's drivers license and credit card to the sack. When Mommy got back to her office she opened the sack, retrieved the bottle of medicine, and dropped the sack into the trash. Last night Mommy realized she was missing those two cards and she figured out where they were: in the dumpster outside her office building. A plan was devised that Andy would meet us at Mommy's office and yours truly would DUMPSTER DIVE! We needed Andy to open the heavy lid and to pick me up and put me inside the dumpster. I then handed him two large sacks. The first one held the trash for four of my mother's co-workers. The next big sack was the one we wanted. Mommy recognized her trash when she saw her coffee cup. And we hit pay dirt, easily finding the two cards. Andy lifted me back out of the dumpster. (Barbara was not with us so there was no picture.)
Back at Grandma's, Barbara asked me if that was a fun activity. I said, "No, it smelled." Of course, it was funny to everyone.
One reason the cousins came to visit was to bring many binders full of genealogy work GGF, and other Bates' had done over the years. Grandma had always been interested in genealogy, just never had the time to study it. When she retires from her job, she hopes to get involved in Bates' genealogy.
I am a good basketball dribbler. Barbara and I played Keep Away in Grandma's front door entry. It is a nice big empty space. Grandma and Mommy joined us.
For lunch, we all had loaded baked potatoes, barbecued brisket, salad, and cantaloupe. Some of it was left-overs from our Bingo party. The sat on the patio and visited, while Mommy and I laid down on a bed to play with the iPad. We both fell asleep. Around 2pm Mommy and I drove home. The cousins left a couple hours later. GGM, Barbara and Grandma put clean sheets on all the beds, emptied the dishwasher, and then Barbara drove her parents back to Tomball.
Mommy is getting ready to have a garage sale, which is a lot of work.
Daddy took me to church, where we surprised Mimz and Aunt Kathy. That made Mimz very happy. Mimz said I was so cute and I was very good during mass. After church we went over to my cousins home to visit and I spent the night at Daddy's home.
