I spent the night at Mimz so she was the one who helped me dress for my school picture.  She fixed my hair and she said I looked really cute.

I went off to school looking forward to my special treat for the day.  Alyssa, two other children, and I
I have had great behavior this school year so those four children got to take off the shoes in class.... all day...as a special treat.  We wore only socks in class but put on shoes for lunch, picture taking and art class and recess.  That was a fun thing to get to do.

On Friday's our special  class is art.  My art teacher just had her third child.  That makes three daughters for her.

I jumped off the bus to be greeted by Alyssa.  Barbara took our picture with Cole.  Anna Kate wanted to show me the art work she had been working on.

I had to spend at least 15 minutes completing most of my homework.   I had one page of math to do, which didn't take 15 minutes so we spent some time reading a poem that I am going to turn into the poem competition.  It is called The Monster and I can read most of the words.   We don't know author's name:

The Monster

I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my bed –
His tongue was yellow,
And his eyes were red.

I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my chair –
His face was purple,
And he had pink hair.

I thought I saw a monster
In my room last night –
His legs were orange,
And his feet were white.

I thought I saw a monster
And that he saw me –
But don’t tell my mother
She’ll be scared you see.

I played with Alyssa until 5:45pm.  Then I had to eat dinner and get dressed in my Cub Scout class A uniform.  Barbara was helping me get ready and took me to my den meeting from 6:30 to 7:30pm.  All Tigers (first graders) must have a parent at the meetings.  (Mommy is at a scrapbooking retreat.) (Grandma is supposed to be at a scrabooking retreat but she is awfully sick so she missed today and may not go at all.)

I was the second boy to arrive at our meeting.  the first boy was also named Mason.  He is the grandson of my den leader.

We started by batting around big yellow balloons, just to keep us entertained.  Fist thing we did was pick a buddie.  We were supposed to work together during this meeting.  We had a flag ceremony.
We talked about kindness, which is one part of the Boy Scout Law.  We all agreed that we should be kind to all living things, not huring animals or plants.   We were ready to start working on our Tiger rank requirements.
We went outside with a journal, pencil, and a magnfing glass to take a 1-foot hike.  We used a string to mark off a one foot square area of grass.
We wrote in our jounal all the things we observed: grass and weeds, dead grass, dead leaf, flying bug, cricket, and dirt.
We were to keep in mind that we were to be kind to animals and plants. And the last thing Cub Scouts do before leaving an area is "Leave No Trace."  We make sure we are leaving the area clean.
Back inside the cafeteria we shared our journal with other cub scouts.
We drew a picture of being Kind.
We enjoyed a health snack.

And played with the big yellow balloons at the end of the meeting.
My Boys' Life magazine arrived in the mail today.
