I was a good boy before school, willing to get dressed in the clothes Mommy picked out for me, except I didn't want to wear my new jeans. I think they are too big. I willing took my eye drops and gobbled down my oatmeal.
On the drive to school Barbara and I discussed the chances of it raining today. It was very cloudy, but the clouds were not dark, so we decided it might .... or it might not.... we would just have to wait and see.
It rained.... and we did not get to play outside at school. But at Barbara's house, I got to put on my raincoat and venture over to Brad's to see if he wanted to go on a bike ride. I was serious about riding even though it was raining. He said, no, he didn't want to ride in the rain. I said okay. He promised the next nice day that were both available, we would go for a bike ride.
I said something that surprised Barbara and GGM. I said, "Let's play Car Town but with no bad guys and no police chases." That is what they have been wanting for months. We were playing just regular things like the school bus driving up and down the neighborhoods picking up children to take them to school. Barbara left the room for a couple of minutes, returning with a new Hot Wheels car, one she had in her secret stash of little rewards for me. She hid the car amongst my other cars. The moment I saw it, I knew it was a new car. I hollered, that there was a new car. I asked Barbara where it came from. She said she didn't know. Then I asked if it really came from her. She said yes. I wanted to know where it had been, but she wouldn't tell me. I knew why she wouldn't tell me. She knew I would go looking for what she has hidden from me.
Later I did go into Barbara's closet and snooped around. I didn't find her "stash for good boy Mason." (I didn't know how close I was to finding her stash. It was hanging in a sack from a hanger, just above my head.)
We invited GGM to watch us play fireman on Barbara's bed, but I didn't behave normally. I would not be very dramatic about saving anyone or act like I was injured. I guess I would have been embarrassed for her to see me be dramatic.
Barbara and I played Dodge Ball, while GGM held Anna Kate over at the side of the room. She was ready to protect AK if a ball came her way. Anna Kate loved watching us, with the big colored balls flying around the room.
We played Hide and Seek, hiding an orange. I have very keen eyesight. Nothing escapes my vision.
We played with my Army guys. First time we have done that in a couple of months.
We colored. I colored a Santa Claus. Barbara colored a reindeer.
We enacted the Three Little Pigs, huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf.
GGM always brings us a surprise snack. Today it was dry cereal, cut up apple, and some puffed corn. And a cup of coffee. The coffee was for her.
The only TV we watched was an episode of Handy Manny. Anna Kate loves that show. She hardly takes her eyes off of it for ten minutes or so, then she is ready for some new activity. She is really working at rolling over. She can almost roll from her tummy to her back and she is getting better at balancing when she is sitting up. She still falls over after several seconds, but each day she is getting better. Give her a month and she may have that skill mastered.
Mommy arrived around 5:30pm to take me home. I was ready to go.
