***Folks, I honestly had plans to get caught up on the blog tonight.... well, we had a major water leak and there went my good intentions. The plumber found a cracked gasket on the side of the water heater which is in the attic ("why would anyone put a water heater in the attic???) and for $430 he replaced it. Brenda got an insurance claim filed. We requested a water restoration company with dehumidifiers and fans come tonight but the didn't make it, so they will start the process of drying out the walls and floors in the morning. This all happened from 3 to 9pm. Brenda and Greg were caught out enjoying a boat ride on their lake but they turned the boat around, put the boat away and drove to Tomball to help.
Barbara, GGM, GGF, and I had soaked up most of the water before they got here but their appearance was much appreciated. ............So the blog may not get caught up tonight, maybe tomorrow or maybe some day soon.
Happy 31st birthday, Uncle Andy. You were born at 8:20am and Grandma said she called you at 8:20am this morning. Barbara said she remembers the day well. It was the only time she will ever see a baby born. She carried Andy down the hall to the baby nursery, then she went to find Greg and tell him the news. Greg was not in the waiting room, but the people there said they would tell him when he came back. In just a minute, Barbara could hear Greg's voice from the other room say, "What, it can't be here yet!" (Back then you didn't know the gender of the baby until it was born.) But Andy was here. He didn't waste any time making his appearance. The nurse had said she would call Grammie, but she didn't even have time to do that, so Greg went to find a telephone and let his mother know she could come see the new baby boy.
It was a normal morning with me wearing one of my new shirts. I do like to dress in nice new clothes. It makes me feel good. I happily thought about going to my first soccer practice later in the afternoon. Before we go, I will have to try on my old shin guard and if they don't fit I will have to wear my new bigger ones. I have brand new soccer cleats that Mimz bought for me.
Barbara is almost over her cold and will be ready to start babysitting Anna Kate on Thursday. Mrs Sandy, Kristan's mother, has been taking care of her this week, so she would not be exposed to cold germs.
GGM and I colored two pictures before I played with the Wii for maybe 20 minutes. Then Barbara and I heard GGM holler up the stairs "We have a problem." Barbara went downstairs to find water a the foot of the stairs, dripping down from the ceiling. They found buckets and towels to start wiping up the water. Then they heard me holler "We have an emergency up here!" I found water on the floor by Barbara's bedroom door. I was a big help finding drips to put a bucket under and sopping up water with towels. At one point, Barbara hollered down to GGM and me, "Do you need more towels?" I hollered back, "No, we have everything under control."
To make this long story short, a plumber replaced a cracked gasket, an insurance claim was filed, and a water restoration company will come in the morning to set up dehumidifiers and fans.
Barbara got me dressed in my shin guards and new soccer shoes and Daddy arrived at 5pm to take me to my first soccer practice.
Mommy came to the practice too. I like Coach Eric.
There are four boys and four girls on my team. Mommy thinks I am the best player.
After practice Mommy and I stopped by Barbara's house to see what all the commotion was all about. It doesn't look too bad, but we shall just have to wait and see what all has to be done.
Barbara said as bad as it was, it could have been worse, so we need to be thankful that we have insurance and have a house that we can live in with running water.
Good night!
