Barbara took me to Top Donut for breakfast. This was not her idea... Mommy promised. I chose a doughnut with pink frosting and lots of sprinkles. I loved it...thank you, Mommy.
On the drive to school, I talked about our getting to see how our graduation shirt tie-dying came out. I had been a good boy all week, so Barbara gave me $4 to purchase pizza for lunch. Yummy.
My graduation shirt turned out awesome. We could chose from six colors to do our tie-dying. I only chose red and blue. I can't believe I only have three more weeks at School in the Pines. I started here when I was 18 months old. I never had an accident or had to change my clothes. I don't remember about the time when I was a little kid, but as a big kid, I do know that I am the only child in my class who doesn't cry or go to Time Out (we call it Reset). I think my teachers wish all their students were as well behaved as I am. I don't ever have a bad attitude at school. I have learned a lot at my school. I AM Kindergarten ready. I am the oldest child in my class since my birthday is in September.
After school Barbara and I hurried to my house. We left GGF at my house because an air conditioner man was coming to service our air conditioner. He found a couple of problems, which he will discuss with Grandma. Anyway, Barbara and I did get there before the man did, and GGF was watching Gunsmoke so all was well.
A toy that we play with for long periods of time is a balloon. GGM, Barbara and I bat balloons around GGM's bedroom and laugh about how it may or may not head in the direction we aim for it too. I know it is silly to laugh, but we sometimes have big belly laughs. Sometimes, I fall on the bed to laugh. We only play this game when AK is not there, or when she is asleep. I know that balloons and babies don't mix. Same goes for Legos. Barbara says Anna Kate won't even see a Lego until she is four-years-old.
I have a new saying for this year: May showers bring June flowers. It has rained every day this month!
Our plans for the day changed several times. It ended up that Barbara and I had to go back over to my house to get clothes for me for the weekend at the lake. Well, for tonight and part of the weekend. We took a sack full of clothes for every occasion. I wanted to be sure to have clothes to play in the dirt (or mud) with Maddox.
Bridget, Chris B and some of their friends were going to spend the weekend at Grandma's lake house and Mommy, Daddy, and I wanted to get to visit with them. So to get me there before dark, Barbara, and GGF drove to meet my mom after work. It was a long slow drive because of the Friday night traffic and the light rain.
I fell asleep and I had a hard time waking up to transfer to Mommy's car. I wish I had my old car seat... it held my head up. Daddy had to work late, but he was coming to the lake as soon as he could get there.
That trip took Barbara and GGF an hour and thirty-five minutes. Barbara thinks she drove three hours today, just carting me around. She said TGIF.
Today Mimz attended the awards luncheon for her hospital volunteer group. She was awarded a pin for 500 volunteer hours. She said that is just a tiny drop compared to the thousands of hours some of her friends have volunteered. Thank you Mimz for doing community service.
Barbara wanted me to add this story: When Andy was a baby, and later when Bridget was a baby, Barbara would work evenings or late nights at her telephone company job. She would spend the day at Grandma's (Brenda) home babysitting, while Brenda went to the school to volunteer. When the school had their awards ceremony, they gave awards to people who babysat so others could volunteer. So Barbara's contribution was acknowledged. Brenda volunteered so much she even became PTA president. Plus she was a Girl Scout leader and a district Girl Scout leader. She could only do this because she had Barbara to babysit. When Barbara told Mimz this story she said, "Behind the scenes people are just as important as those on the front line."
I haven't seen it yet, but the playground at Mimz park was
destroyed by falling trees a couple of days ago. I will be so
disappointed.
I loved climbing on this big fake rock. We hope they rebuild it in a timely fashion. It was a great playground.
At the lake I played with Maddox and his little sister Parker tagged along.
Bridget and Chris had five or six of their friends come with them. Most of them played poker. They each put $40 in the pot and when they were out of chips, they were out of the game. Only first and second place won any cash. My parents were not the winners.
I fell asleep on Grandma's bed.
