I'm going to find out what time Alyssa wakes up.  I want to knock on her door first thing in the morning and Barbara thinks I should wait until 9am at the earliest.
Water stands in a low spot by our driveway.  I started my morning sweeping it away.  This was my morning chore.
I love wearing my swim cap.  GGF and Barbara took me to my swim practice from 9 to 9:45am.  They both enjoy watching me and the other little kids swim.  They wish the big kid coaches would spend more time helping us get better technique.  Barbara is not a good swimmer but even she can see things I need to change to swim faster.
Ever since I completed Jedi training at Disney World, I like practicing my Jedi moves.

Alyssa and I were going to the neighborhood pool.  Right before we left, Barbara relied the pool is closed on Monday's for cleaning.  We couldn't swim in Alyssa's pool because her dad just put chemicals in it.  So we played in my room and rode our bikes.  We showed Barbara the card Alyssa's dad attached to her bike that made it make a loud noise, so Barbara attached an old card to my bike.  Boy it is really loud.  I love it.
Boy Scout camp is this week from 3 to 8pm on the grounds of Northside Church.  I took a large bucket (which makes a great seat) with all my required things: poncho, sun screen, insect repellent, dinner and snacks, hat, and water bottle.   I am one of four Tigers (first graders) going to camp.  There are over 100 scouts attending.  A Tiger has to have an adult with them, so Barbara is staying with me from 3 to 5:30 when Mommy arrives to be there until 8pm.  We started with the Color Guard coming in to raise the American flag.  We saluted using the Boy Scout salute while saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

My little group found a picnic table that was in the shade.   We worked on learning the Boy Scout oath.  We read it, cut the four lines apart, mixed them up, and pasted them on a piece of blue construction paper.  I will use this to learn the Oath.  I need to learn the oath, motto, handshake, and salute and maybe other things to earn my Bobcat badge.

I answered several questions that our leader asked.  But often I was not paying attention.  I wanted to watch what all the other groups were doing.  I really wanted to go play on the playground.  I'm not much for sitting for very long.
My favorite part of today's camp was shooting BB guns. We used a method to find out which was our dominate eye.  Unfortunately my left eye is my dominate eye and I pull the trigger with my right hand.  That makes it hard to line up the rifle with the target.   We talked about gun safely.  The rifles were too heavy for us little kids.  Cocking the gun was too hard so Barbara had to do the first half.  Then I could pull it down to finish loading a BB.   And the trigger was hard to pull, so keeping the rifle lined up while pulling hard was not easy.
My first ten shots, I hit the target one time.  My second five shots, I hit the target one time.  So I did improve.   I think using a pistol would be easier.  Andy has GGF's old BB gun pistol.  I'll have to get him to work with me.
Now I know what the inside of a football looks like.

Several times older scouts came to our table to ask if we needed any help.  We really didn't since each child had an adult there.

It was pretty hot out there, so Barbara was glad when Mommy arrived and she could go home to get out of the heat. They have us drink water every ten to fifteen minutes.   Back at our picnic table it was time for dinner. I brought a sack lunch: peanut butter and jelly sandwich, grapes, banana, Pringles, cashews, and a cookie from Walt Disney.
Our last activity was to talk about characteristics of Boy Scouts.  This is the Boy Scout Law:  trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.  Then we played on the playground until time to leave.

We have decided 9:30pm would be a good bedtime for the summer.  I was in bed at that time and asleep within two minutes.
